Improving the Airway Dimension in Growing Patient with TADS

TADs has a positive impact in the airway dimension of our growing children. The estimated prevalence of OSA in the general children population is between (1-6%) This proportion will increase to 15% due to a higher prevalence of craneofacial deformities in our office. The objectives in this type of patient are: -1. Normalize form and funtion. -2. The balance of the Orofacial System -3. To improve the permeability of the upper/lower airway. We will focused our lecture on the respiratory benefits in patient with transverse maxillary deficiency,retrusive maxilla and retrognatic mandible, treated with a TADS facilitated orthopedic approach. We underwent physical evaluation, Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire (PSQ), home sleep testing and volumetric airway measure. TADS combine with well design orthopedic appliance offers a new paradigm on preventing obstructive sleep apnea in growing patient improving OSA- related quality of life with an AHI reduction, a low oxygen saturation and snoring duration,among others.
